When Cariba Heine, Phoebe Tonkin, and Claire Holt first met on the kids show H20: Just Add Water, they were all teenagers.
The beloved show, which premiered in 2006, told the story of the teens’ alter egos Rikki, Cleo, and Emma, and the secret they had to keep – they were mermaids.
The show synopsis stated, “When they’re not in school, they use their magical powers to save sea turtles and rescue those in need.”
One drop of water could expose the girls at any time, and while it didn’t always make sense, it made for an entertaining show.
Following the show’s conclusion in 2010, the cast has gone on to achieve enormous success both domestically and internationally. And, in an odd turn of events, some of the actors’ paths have continued to cross after the show.
So, what happened to them? Continue reading to find out!
Claire played Emma on H20 before joining The Vampire Diaries.
Claire Holt is a writer who lives in New York City
Claire left the show for the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, first landing a role in the Mean Girls sequel before landing a guest role in the hit series Pretty Little Liars.
The 32-year-big old’s break came when she was cast as Rebekah Mikaelson in The Vampire Diaries. Her role on the show was then carried over to The Originals, the show’s spin-off series.
She was also reunited with co-star and real-life pal Phoebe Tonkin there.
Cleo, Phoebe’s character, had a relationship with Lewis.
Phoebe was cast in the hit Australian film Tomorrow When The War Began the same year H20 ended. She went on to have a brief role in Home And Away before relocating to the United States.
Claire and Phoebe have remained close friends since their time on the local show, where they first met as teenagers, before reuniting on the set of The Vampire Diaries, and even having a recent mini-reunion.
At a fan event in 2014, Phoebe talked about her long-running friendship with Claire and how they both worked on the hit show.
“Obviously, Claire was the first person I told [about landing the part of Hayley],” she said at the time.
“Claire was 16 when I met her; I was 15 at the time. For years, we both lived on the Gold Coast. After that, when I moved to Los Angeles, I actually auditioned on Claire’s couch.
‘This is the neighborhood coffee shop,’ she said. She took me around Los Angeles and showed me the ropes.”
Phoebe has starred in Bloom alongside Ryan Corr and Jacki Weaver since leaving the magical franchise.
Look familiar? Cariba appeared on Home And Away with Tim Franklin.
Cariba traded in her infamous tail for dancing shoes in 2021 when she was cast as Isabelle in the children’s show Dance Academy.
In addition to Designated Survivor, Home And Away, and The Secrets She Keeps, the 32-year-old has appeared in the American series Designated Survivor, Home And Away, and The Secrets She Keeps.
Angus was our teen crush.
We’ve admired Angus McLaren on a number of occasions, but H20 was the first show where we fell in love with him.
Angus stole our hearts right away as the girl’s adorable friend and sidekick, Lewis.
Angus later appeared in the Australian television series Doctor Doctor, Home And Away, and, most notably, Packed To The Rafters.
Miriam was the WORST but was played brilliantly by Annabelle.
Naturally, the girls needed an adversary on the show, and Miriam, a snobby adolescent, was the perfect fit.
Annabelle has since gone on to star in a number of Australian and international dramas, including Revenge, Tidelands, and, most recently, Home And Away, in which she had an affair with Tim Franklin’s character, Summer Bay cop Colby.
