Where EastEnders’ Di Marco family stars are now from stints on Love Island and I’m A Celebrity to teaching drama

Older EastEnders viewers will recall the Di Marco family, a dysfunctional family that wreaked havoc on the streets of Albert Square around the turn of the century.

Rosa, whose recent loss of husband Giuseppe saw the four siblings arrive in the East End for the first time, presided over brothers Beppe and Gianni, as well as younger sisters Teresa and Nicky.

The family had relocated to Walford to run their late father’s and husband’s Italian restaurant.

Their actual talents shone through in the drama and devastation they wreaked among their neighbors, and no family understood this better than the Mitchells.

During their tenure on EastEnders, the Mitchells and the Di Marco family notoriously feuded, until the Di Marcos was forced to depart due to a lack of appeal among viewers, just four years after their first appearance.

In the 20 years since their last scene in 2002, where are they now?

Michael Greco (Beppe)

Michael, regarded as one of the best pin-ups of the early 2000s, had far longer screen time than the rest of his on-screen family, remaining in the Square with his son, Joe, until June 2002.

Michael went on to feature on shows like Celebrity Love Island, Soapstar Superstar, and even Soccer Aid in the following years.

Michael, an avid poker player, made a name for himself on the worldwide poker scene, amassing wins of up to $680,000 over the years.

Today, he is the father of a newborn son at the age of 50, with his girlfriend, Helen Harris.

Marc Bannerman (Gianni)

Marc’s character was embroiled in multiple love affairs while he was dating Nadia Sawalha from Loose Women.

Nadia’s character also dated Marc’s on-screen!

Marc continues to act, appearing on stage and screen, and even tried his hand at reality television as a competitor on 2007’s I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, where he was the first to be voted out by the audience.

Marc has recently appeared in Sky’s Agatha Raisin, as well as a variety of all-action movie roles.

Leila Birch (Teresa)

Teresa followed in her family’s traditions, working in the restaurant and chasing high-octane romances; who can forget her affair with Ricky Butcher, who was married at the time?

Or even Matthew Rose, who was wrongly imprisoned for murder.

Today, Leila appears to be avoiding the chaos of her Albert Square role, to the point where she has relocated to the United States to pursue acting.

She’s had success as well, with appearances in WMD and Mr. Peabody and Sherman, a popular animated series for kids.

Carly Hillman (Nicky)

Nicky appeared to have had the worst of luck, with plotlines that included a horrifying sexual assault narrative involving her teacher.

Nicky has likely pursued the most professional paths after leaving the soap in 2000, with a resume that includes being a member of the pop band ‘Urban Lady,’ many television appearances, including a stint on Celebrity Britain’s Best Dish, and main parts with Ian Dickens Productions.

Nicky now lives with her husband and two daughters in Romford, where she runs her own theater school.
